Why Simple Champions Help You Climb Faster
Before we get to the list, you need to understand something: mechanically complex champions don't help you climb. When you play someone like Azir, Lee Sin, or Aphelios, most of your brainpower goes into executing combos correctly. That leaves less attention for actual game decisions: when to roam, which objective to take, where the enemy jungler is.
Simple champions let you put your mechanics on autopilot and focus on what actually makes you climb: macro, positioning, and decision-making.
With that said, here are the best picks for each role.
Top Lane
Garen
The king of simplicity. No mana, brutal passive regen, a silence that cuts combos, and an execute ultimate. Garen lets you focus 100% on learning how to lane, trade properly, and manage waves. He's extremely hard to kill and can punish every enemy mistake with ease.
Sett
A beast in 1v1s and teamfights alike. His W (Haymaker) can single-handedly turn fights if you use it well. His kit is straightforward: go in, punch, tank. He also works well into most of the current top lane meta.
Jungle
Vi
The ultimate point-and-click jungler. Her Q is a great gap closer from fog of war and her ultimate is unstoppable: you pick someone and that someone dies. She's perfect for players who want to impact lanes without needing crazy mechanics.
Amumu
Two stuns, a devastating teamfight ultimate, and one of the easiest jungle clears in the game. Amumu is ideal if you want to win teamfights without overcomplicating things.
Mid Lane
Annie
Predictable stun, massive burst with Tibbers, and one of the simplest laning phases in the game. Annie teaches you how to trade, manage your passive, and look for flanks in teamfights. She's much stronger than people give her credit for, especially after her recent buffs.
Veigar
Scales infinitely, has a cage that traps entire teams, and can delete any carry with a single combo. In Silver/Gold, games tend to go long, and Veigar becomes an absolute monster in the late game.
ADC (Bot Lane)
Jinx
The queen of "1v9". When Jinx gets a kill in a teamfight, her passive turns her into a destruction machine that can clean up the entire enemy team. Her kit is simple: farm, survive, and position well in teamfights to carry. She's the most consistent ADC in the current patch.
Miss Fortune
Strong laning phase, devastating teamfight ultimate, and a simple kit to execute. You don't need mechanical outplays. Just position well and press R at the right time.
Support
Nami
The perfect mix of healing, CC, and damage. Nami works well with almost any ADC and has special synergy with Jinx. Her bubble can change fights and her ultimate is excellent for engaging or disengaging.
Sona
Scales incredibly well. In Silver/Gold, where games tend to go late, Sona becomes a healing and buffing machine for her team. Her gameplay is simple: stay in the back, use your auras, and press R when the enemy team groups up.
How to Choose Your Champion
Don't pick based on what champion is "best this patch." Patches change every two weeks. Pick based on:
- Simplicity: Can you play them without thinking about buttons?
- Fun: Do you like them enough to play 100+ games?
- Personal winrate: Is your winrate on that champion good?

The Most Common Mistake
A lot of people see a streamer make insane plays on Yasuo or Riven and think "I can do that too." The reality is those streamers have thousands of hours on those champions. You need to climb now, not in 2,000 hours.
Pick simple. Master the fundamentals. Climb. Then, if you want, you can play the hard champions once you're at an elo where your fundamentals are solid.
