Competitions: open ladders to prove you're the best
We're launching Who Is Better competitions. Sign up, compete against everyone, and win prizes.
What are competitions?
Who Is Better competitions are open ladders where you sign up with your Riot ID and automatically compete against all participants. You don't need to be online at the same time or play special matches. The system compares your real stats from your latest ranked games.
It's like a tournament, but without fixed schedules. You sign up, keep playing normally, and when registration closes, the system runs all the comparisons and publishes the results.
How do they work?
1. Registration
When there's an open competition, go to the Competitions section and sign up with your Riot ID. The system verifies:
- That your account exists
- That your rank falls within the allowed range (for example, Gold to Diamond)
- That your region is allowed
- That you're not already registered
If you have your LoL account linked, the form fills in automatically.
2. Automatic comparisons
When registration closes, the system takes a snapshot of every participant's stats and generates all possible comparisons. If there are 10 players, that's 45 comparisons. If there are 50, that's 1,225.
Each comparison analyzes the same 6 categories we always use: KDA, winrate, CS/min, damage per minute, kill participation, and vision score.
3. Standings
The point system is simple:
| Result | Points |
|---|---|
| Win | 3 |
| Draw | 1 |
| Loss | 0 |
In case of a tie in points, tiebreakers are applied in this order:
- Head-to-head result between tied players
- Average categories won per comparison
- Total wins
4. Prizes
Each competition can have prizes for the top finishers. Prizes are displayed on the competition page before you sign up, so you know what you're competing for.
What types of competitions are there?
Competitions can be configured in many ways:
- By rank: Iron to Gold only, Diamond+ only, etc.
- By region: LATAM only, all regions, etc.
- By queue: Solo/Duo, Flex, ARAM
- Free or paid: Most are free
Why did we create this?
We wanted to give Who Is Better a real competitive edge. Individual comparisons are great, but there was something missing, something that would motivate you to improve your stats knowing you're competing against others.
Competitions provide that purpose. You're no longer just comparing against a friend. Now you compete against everyone who signed up and can see your position in real time.
How do I sign up?
- Go to Competitions
- Choose an open competition
- Enter your Riot ID (or let it fill in automatically if you have a linked account)
- Click "Sign up"
- Keep playing ranked and wait for the results!
Competitions are processed automatically when registration closes. Results are published on the same page with the final ranking and all individual comparisons.
