The problem with the old system

Until now, the Who Is Better leaderboard worked with a simple system: it counted how many comparisons you had won and ranked you by total victories. It worked, but it had clear issues:

  • Quantity over quality: Someone who played 200 comparisons with a 55% winrate could rank higher than someone with 20 comparisons and a 90% winrate.
  • No risk in losing: You lost a comparison and nothing happened, your win count just didn't go up. There was nothing at stake.
  • No progression: There was no real feeling of "I'm improving" or "I'm leveling up".

We needed something better. Something that rewarded consistency, not just volume.

What is WIB Rating

WIB Rating is a competitive scoring system built by Who Is Better. Here's how it works:

  • Everyone starts at 0 points (Rookie).
  • Every comparison you win adds points. Every loss takes points away.
  • The amount of points you gain or lose depends on your experience, your streak and how decisive the result was.
  • As you accumulate points, you climb through tiers.

The 10 tiers

TierRatingColor
Rookie0 - 99Grey
Contender100 - 249Bronze
Rival250 - 449Silver
Gladiator450 - 699Gold
Titan700 - 999Teal
Champion1000 - 1349Green
Legend1350 - 1749Blue
Mythic1750 - 2199Purple
Apex2200 - 2699Red
Sovereign2700+Bright gold

Your tier is displayed on your profile, in comparisons and on the leaderboard.

How points are calculated

Not all victories are worth the same. The system takes three factors into account:

1. Your experience

In your first comparisons you gain (and lose) more points. This lets you position yourself quickly. As you play more, changes stabilize.

  • First 10 comparisons: large changes (placement phase)
  • Comparisons 11 to 30: moderate changes (calibration phase)
  • After 30: stable changes

2. How decisive the result is

Winning 4-2 is not the same as winning 6-0. A dominant victory gives you a bonus:

  • 4-2: normal points
  • 5-1: +15% bonus
  • 6-0: +30% bonus

3. Your streak

If you've been winning several in a row, the system rewards you with an extra multiplier:

  • 3 to 4 consecutive wins: +5%
  • 5 to 7 in a row: +10%
  • 8+ in a row: +20%

Seasons

WIB Rating runs on seasons with a set duration. Each season:

  • All ratings reset to 0
  • A fresh leaderboard opens up
  • Results from the previous season are saved in your history

This keeps the system fresh. It doesn't matter if you joined late, each season is a new opportunity to compete from scratch.

Prizes

At the end of each season, top players on the leaderboard will be eligible for prizes. Prize details will be announced during the season, so there's a real reason to play and climb tiers.

What changed on the platform

  • Leaderboard: No longer shows the comparison table. It now displays the WIB Rating ranking with all players, their tier and score.
  • Player profile: Now includes a card with your WIB Rating, tier, ranking position, peak and season winrate.
  • Comparison results: After each comparison you see how many points you gained or lost, and your current tier.
  • Home: If you have a linked account, you see your WIB Rating card directly on the home page.

How to get started

You don't need to do anything special. If you already use Who Is Better, your rating is already active. Every comparison you make from now on will add (or subtract) points to your WIB Rating.

  1. Make a comparison as usual
  2. Check your rating change in the result
  3. Check your position on the Leaderboard
  4. Climb tiers and compete for the top spots

Season 1 is already live. See you on the leaderboard.
